Today's POD was taken in Brunet Island SP near Cornell, WI.  Mary and I did a day trip from the cabin and hiked a trail in the park.  Some pretty impressive white pines/hemlocks/red oaks, etc. as well.  The island is in the Chippewa River.  We wished we would have had the canoe along.  A perfect fall day!

Today's POD feels like a warm, sunny fall day....considering we just passed the winter solstice, I'm thinking "warmth" in a few months!

Nooo!... Winter is just starting to get good.

I love those "upside down" shots, where the reflection is so crystal-clear!

Fun shot, very pretty!   Thanks!

We have one that we enjoy, mainly because of the memories on our "Celebration Canoe Trip".  I sent the file in to have a canvas print made, and when it arrived they had the hanger wire set so that the blue sky was at the top.  I was amused; contacted the company, and they sent us another canvas print.  (I think perhaps some people at Snapfish are still puzzled that we wanted the sky at the bottom of our picture.)  So we have this one in both our house and our lake cottage:

Love the reflection shots mpee  Cool

I'm not afraid of snakes but have been startled by them when they appear in unsuspected places.

Few years back I'm Brook Trout fishing in N. Mich.
I found a spot near a old dam that was off a paved road featuring a little parking spot.

I'm waist deep in some pretty fast moving water catching some undersized trout. I reach down to get my trout net and much to my surprise there was a huge water snake entangled in the net!  Shocked Grin Grin

I'm swearing like a sailor, waving and shaking the net in the air and finally the snake pops loose and swims off.

I hear some peels of laughter and when I turn there is a couple sitting at the old picnic table on the edge of the parking spot. The gal is taking pics with her phone.

I come back to land and the guy says " You look like you could use a cold beer ? "

I took the beer and we had a good laugh about it.

Todays pic is perhaps one of the best reflections I've ever encountered.  We stayed for a while in that place!   Wonder what a person who knows something about photography..... db perhaps...could do with a setting like that.  These pics are from an iPhone 5.
