Gammon Lake in WCPP.  I ended up there on my solo route from Irvine Lake.  I didn't mean to go there initially but it worked out well.  One of the most beautiful sites ever.  Gammon is a big lake and talk about wind!  Front after front blew through and had spectacular views of storms followed by huge fluffy white clouds against a bluer than blue sky.  Unfortunately most of that area burned last year.

Nice looking site Mike Smiley
I like those elevated sites as long as you have a spot where you can get some protection when the wind blows.

I like the elevated sites as well.  The tent/tarp was set back in the woods and offered nice protection from the storms.  I'm usually not one for sitting around much but on that particular site it was really nice to take my chair out on the rock and just watch the world go by. Smiley

I try to take at least one day to just chill and do next to nothing besides explore around camp and read.  Sitting and watching the sun set when solo is when I've had the best wildlife encounters.  Usually the beavers come out to play.

This is when you're glad to be sitting in camp, instead of being caught in the middle of the lake.  Undecided Shocked Grin

Where's that at in the UP?
Imagine being allowed to use a gillnet, as people did before the Conservation movement.  Shocked

It's KITCH-ITI-KIPI Springs in Palm Brooks State Park.  I stand corrected....the depth is 45'.
We had really good lake trout fishing on Banana Lake in WCPP.  I think I just stumbled on this pic and it made me think of the lake trout fishing in WCPP.  Just thought I'd have some fun with different pics. Roll Eyes

Thanks, Mike!
I knew the name of the spring, just never been there.
I didn't know the name of the park.

It's a big tourist destination, so when I've been in the UP stream trout fishing, I always avoid places like that.

Should visit though, I would love to see fish in a school like that in crystal clear water.
