Yeah, we didn't leave much behind on that base-camp trip!

I don't believe I got on that inflatable sofa much, if any.  Nevertheless, it proved durable enough to withstand PineKnot taking a nap on it with a "lit" cigar.... Wink

Ahhhh . . . it's a BGV.  We have one in my classroom.  The Big Green Vag . . . never-mind.

Last summer was the summer of the swan.  I saw over 25 swans in the park last summer.

  Nice POD today MP Cool

I've only seen swans a few times in the park. I really enjoy seeing them. You just don't want to get to close to them paddling. A mad swan will go right after a paddler.  Shocked Cry Cry

The local LMB fishing lake my brother and I favor has large resident population of Swans, Canadian Geese and a few duck species.

The swans RULE the lake and the other birds know it. The DNR rents kayaks and warns people not to get to close to them. Of course there are always people who glide up close for a pic.

They only do that once. Last year some guy and his girlfriend riding a jet ski got to close and the male swan attacked them and knocked both of them off the jet ski.

The moron didn't have that kill switch cord attached to his life vest. So they're in the water, with the jet ski circling them and the swan going after them. Good times.  Wink Grin Grin

Some guys in a bass boat came over and rescued them. Word got back to DNR and they were waiting at the boat launch to give them a big-ticket for harassing the swans.  Grin Grin

I like to get real close using a long lenses then slip closer by cropping and blowing up.
I have seen swans chasing geese.  Neat to see a goose trying to make sharp turns with a swan 1 foot behind them.

Nice pic of the swan.  I've never seen on on nest because I usually go later in the summer and by that time they're all done.  I ran into a brood of fledglings who couldn't fly west of Irvine and both parents did their level best to steer me away from the youngsters even though I was doing my level best by going out of the way so as not to disturb them.  They, like my better half, can be very vocal at times Wink

Nice swan pics Magic.  I see them every year in Quetico now since 2012.  Before that I doubt I ever saw one there.

In 2012 I did the Little Indian Sioux entry solo in the BW. While camped on Little Pauness lake there were a pair of swans down the shore maybe 100 yards.  They put up such a loud racket I couldn't believe it!  It sounded like a huge brawl was going on.  This was at the very end of September and more likely it was just foreplay.  Wink

Today’s POD features Kelly Kettle cooking at it’s finest!  Hmmm... Magicpaddler’s hat is on ground next to his empty stool.  Must be right after he fell into Veron Lake that 2nd time.....

That was a pretty nice campsite.  One rainy day there, I chased a moose across the lake in my Wenonah Prism, just west of our island.  Nearly caught him, too.  When his feet found lake bottom I backed off in a hurry!

I should have chased him over to where Magic was swimming.  Would have been fun to watch MP try to ride him.

That was kind of a cold day.  My hammock was down over the hill behind Jimbo’s hammock.
