If you are new to a lake, start fishing from your campsite.

You waste fishing time paddling to a spot away from your campsite.  If you do catch fish away from your campsite, you have to paddle back to it tomorrow.  After you paddle away from your campsite you will find yourself in front of some's else's campsite.

What's really frustrating is if you go out specifically to take some back to camp but get a nice walleye or trout right when you start, like the first or 2nd cast.  You let it go thinking you have a good 3 hours left of fishing to get some for supper.  Well, you know how this story ends. Nothing but smallies and hammer handles for dinner.  Undecided Undecided
