Actually, I've taken "the road less traveled." I don't watch either.
I did give FOX a listen a couple of times in the beginning, but soon classified it as a complete joke with respect to news coverage. It was about that time I began my checklist of what not to watch.
Rule #1: Don't watch a news outlet that is controlled by a billionaire unless you want to be swayed by the billionaire's propaganda. (Removed FOX, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal from my list.)
Rule #2: If your critical dialogue to the TV runs longer than the "news" broadcast, turn it off. (Scratch CNN, MSNBC).
Rule #3: Know what the political bent of a news source is before you invest time with it. (If you are so naive as to believe the New York Times and NPR are not going to have a liberal tilt, you are simply not paying attention.)
Rule #4: If TV coverage of "news" has more than 2 talking heads (broadcaster and 2 "others"), turn it off.
Rule #5: If you spend more time fact checking a source that it took to extract information from it, flush it down the toilet.
I will stop here. I'm sure you don't want to see the next 20 or so. (BTW: News sources in parentheses is intended to represent an example and not an exhaustive list.)
I also hope you are not cursed with an analytic mind. Would you like to hear how I parse TV commercials? No, I didn't think so! My wife knows full well that watching TV with me is not a "spectator sport."
