It is not going to hurt the fishing any, either!

Well, it just might.  All those Canadian fish are sensing all the leeches, nightcrawlers, minnows, etc down south of the border and heading that way for an easy meal.....courtesy of the  bazillion U.S. BWCA anglers unable to cross the dang border.....

Not that there's that many Quetico fish making that difficult and deadly southerly trek....we all know Quetico was pretty much fished out the past several years prior....   Cheesy Cheesy

I wonder if we will ever see it again.  Undecided

Call me an optimist but I wouldn't give up hope on late summer or early fall trip for those able to partake on a moments notice.

Quetico lakes are fished out.  That explains why I didn't catch any fish in Quetico last year.  That probably means fishing will be poor in 2021.  If the border opens up this year I'll still give fishing a try.

Phoenix,

That's one heckuva great pic today!

I was tempted to guess it was taken on Kasakokwog BUT, after further reflection, I no longer think so.

Today's photo was taken on Pickerel last September.

The older I get, the uglier slick-spot corduroy (such as in today's POD) looks to me.

Otherwise, PK, that's a great portage pic...though IF I had taken it, all you would see is blue sky since I'd be on my butt in the mud.

Spots like that are where I'm glad I have that sturdy Mohawk double paddle to use as a 3rd leg.

I'll use it with both packs but the canoe is where the problems more often occur.

Today's POD taken 10 years ago is the infamous "Boggy Portage" leading to Grey Lake from Shade, actually from the unnamed lake into Grey.  This photo is looking back to the southwest after getting across the bog.  Last time I was here was about 5 years ago and the conditions were dry enough that you could walk along the grassy hummocks on the west side of the corduroy until the last 10 yards or so....I'm not even sure the corduroy is even there today.

My son did slip off a log about half way across back in 2011 and sunk past his knee.  But his boots were tied well enough so that his boot stayed attached to his foot when he finally extricated himself....fun times!!

Actually, I'm with Jimbo and the rest of you who prefer to avoid these mudholes if at all possible....   Cool
