PK-

The first time I was on that portage, I slipped off the corduroy and sunk up to my armpits in the sucking mud. I was carrying packs, which didn't help.

If I was on a solo, I'd probably still be stuck there -- and that was 25 years ago!!

As I also recall, that's the portage where you can easily take a wrong turn and double back to where you started. Yeah, that one's a real doozy!!

I've been over that portage, but I don't remember it being that bad. Must've been a dry year or I'm just getting forgetful...  Grin Grin

The first time I did the Boggy Portage, I thought it wasn't that bad cause I never slipped off the corduroy.  Each time since then, I swear (literally) wondering why the portage keeps growing in length along with more hairpin turns thru the forest....  Wink Cheesy

I refuse to believe that I'm getting older, weaker, and slower....and no way more forgetful....now where's my dang wallet? Honey, where'd you put my wallet?  You stealing my cash again??  Kiss

Hairpin corners are reduced if you take the western trail to the bog (starting from the south end of the portage), I think it's a touch easier.

PK,

How many times do you need to be told NOT to rinse your portage clothes right next to the camp canoe landing?

Jimbo  Cool

I think Pascanell may have been bathing upstream.

Gorgeous iris!  I have occasionally seen one or two in the canoe country, but never a big grouping like that.
