ST,

Clearly they shouldn't have dined quite so early and without you.

They should have paid heed to the age-old wisdom that tells us that "the early turd always gets the worm."

Later,

Oh, Jimbo!!  How do you DO that???

Grin Grin Grin

My mother, God rest her soul, loved puns. And she could make them up, too.  That is one genetic trait that I have not inherited, and I always love it when someone gets one like that.

Needed a smile.  Thanks.

Mepps Aglia #5...a top producer.  Using only it (in a different color) & tipping it with a white twister tail, I once scored a Grand Slam in the space of one hour (on a lake which shall go unnamed here).  That was a morning I shall not soon forget. If this lure is not in your tackle box, it should be (at least on certain Quetico lakes).

Of course, I wouldn't put it past ST to have caught his fish on a different lure, then substitute the Mepps for our benefit.  Hmmm, come to think of it, it might actually have been a Daredevil that I used that morning so long ago....

Close but its a Double Looner spinner. I have Mepps spinners and they are great. I have about 5 of these Double Loon spinners and they all are good producers.

That's their Spring Frog pattern. Good to troll or cast from shore. Solid brass they get down deep.
Heavy for their size.

This review goes into detail about why the author thinks it's a superior spinner to others. One thing I know for sure, it spins at a very slow retrieval speed compared to other spinners.

When casting from shore I run it as slow as possible just ticking the bottom. Fish will hammer it.

I can't remember if you could order them with a single hook? I switched all my trebles for single hooks that lure in pic too.

I saw that after I posted the link.
I don't know now if they're still in business or just left the site-up which seems odd to me?

I better hang on to the ones I have they might be a collector's item someday.

Cool!  I love photographing spider webs, and the canoe country is a great place to do it!  Nice photo!

Early one sunny September morning, my wife & I were exiting Kasakokwog, paddling that narrow stretch connecting to McAlpine.  There must have been hundreds of such webs lacing the wild grasses of the south bank off of our starboard bow.  Rays from the rising sun pierced the tree cover enough to catch dewdrops dripping on the webs while mists rose off the lake after a chilly night.  It was absolutely glorious.

The attached picture really doesn't do it justice....

Thanks for sharing a pic that dredges up fond memories, ST!

Spiderwebs in the right light are a glorious sight.
