Don't know anything about where today's POD was taken EXCEPT that it is someplace I'd like to be right about now.

Having now spent over a month here in the Florida sub-tropics, PODs like today's are the stuff daydreams are made of.

Went I first got out of HS, before I enlisted in 68, a  buddy and I saved all the money we could and drove to FL.
We got there in the Spring and stayed until late fall.

Besides the girls at the beach and the nightlife around Hollywood FL where we stayed, I didn't come away thinking this is where I would want to live full-time.

Hot and humid just isn't for me. The only place I've been that was worse, Ft Polk LA where I trained at Tigerland in the Army was the closest place in the US to what you'd find IF you ended up in Vietnam.

I get hating the extreme cold as you get older but I love the 4 seasons too much to give them up entirely.

On the plus side Jimbo, I hear you might be able to get a good deal on some Croc belts/boots or maybe Python boots down there?  Shocked Wink Grin Grin

Yup. Just behind my tarp, there was a flat rock and around it, there were at least 3-4 sets of what looked to be Beaver's feet?

I think the Native People trapped them and skinned them there?

Either that or there was a Beaver Serial Killer on the loose!  Huh Wink Grin Grin

That site was also home to a big Snapping Turtle.
I was getting water for coffee and it came right up and stared at me like it was waiting to be fed.

That's one of the staples on my canoe trips.  Even a couple small walleye will go a long way in the Cache Lake Fish Chowder that I use.

That is Cache Lake Fish Chowder pictured there.
Good stand-alone, even better with actual fish in it Cool

I like some NP in mine. It's a firm fish in texture that holds up well to being simmered.
