Visited this site in 1992 (POD), again in 2002, and a third time in 2012 on our trip with HoHo and David.  My favorite campsite from all of our trips and it has nothing to do with the tent site or anything besides this rock.  Have sat on this rock just looking at the water, writing in my journal, photographing, meditating.  Enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. Praying.  Doing nothing at all besides "being" on this rock.  If I could be there today, I would.  If I thought our kids/grandkids would make the trip, I would like to have my ashes scattered from this rock someday.  My special place of all the places in the world.   Smiley

I doubt I could pull it off legally, but I would like my ashes mixed with a native wildflower mix and spread over a spot somewhere deep in the Q.

Someplace overlooking the water and that got decent sun.

My parents had a "Brown Bomber" just like that!
Back then that was a very popular color.

My Dad went car shopping and called Mom to tell her he had bought the car they had been talking about.

Told her it was a nice Metalic GREEN?
When he pulled in the driveway he beeped the horn to get Mom to come and take a ride with him.

Mom tells him I thought you were getting a GREEN car? Dad had a form of color blindness. He couldn't tell the difference between Greens and Browns.

Mom said that why she BOUGHT all his dress clothes!  Wink Grin Grin

Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe 1970 or ‘71.  Not sure.  It was a gas guzzler, but how I did love it!  We bought it new the fall before our first canoe trip.  It had a paisley print vinyl top and matching upholstery, and was so very comfortable.  Probably powerful, too, but I didn’t care as much about that.  The brown color was what drew us to it at first, and I still think it was beautiful.

Have only had two cars that I really loved and it was the first.  The other was my ‘02 Pontiac Sunfire, fire engine red, that I drove for 17 years.

No one ever notices the rented canoe in this photo, or the sharp guy.  They just see the car!  Except, of course, for me.   Wink

Linda, I noted right away that's one of Cliff Wold's old aluminum bombers on the roof.  Love the old suction cup mount rack on the roof too!  Hard to see the paisley print top though.  I believe Plymouth had a Mod Top print as well that was way out - flowers and stuff!

What do you want to know?  The car had a hard top, but covered with paisley-printed vinyl.  Back in those days, very chic.  Classy.

As for the suction cups, I have no idea.  I don't remember how they put that canoe on top of the car, only that it was the only trip we ever made with a canoe we didn't own.  Once we bought our Grumman, we also bought a rack for the car.  Maybe Spartan1 remembers the way we transported that first canoe up the Echo Trail to Crane Lake.  I just remember that we got it there.

I was laughing about the suction cups a vinyl roof. Then again even those blue foam pads would work better with a little texture under them.

Was the embossing paisley?

Yup.  That’s it.  And the interior had panels of that in the doors and in the seats.  It was actually a very pretty car.  Big, roomy.  Nice for travel with a pre-schooler and a toddler in the back seat.  But you needed to take out a second mortgage to afford the gasoline.
