Thanks.  I haven't sent anything in lately, so I can only assume that db is just going back and picking out some of his favorites from the archive.

Nice butterfly shot today.  Cool

That is absolutely a spectacular butterfly photo Spartan 2. I don’t know if I’ve seen that butterfly previously?

I call this Beast the Scream like a little girl Spider!  Shocked Embarrassed Grin Grin

I had one run over my hand while I was putting split wood into a campfire at that no-name bay on Quetico Lake.
I'm not afraid of spiders/snakes normally but I was so startled by the size of it, I let out a little girl scream.

Other than Tarantulas out west, I've never seen a spider that big. I just assumed being in the North like that the spiders would be smaller than in a hot clime.

Yes, as soon as I saw that db had resurrected that photo I realized it would get a comment from you, Neal.  We saw one on our trip to the Gunflint this year, too, but not as large as the one in the photo.  I think they are fascinating and love to just sit on a dock or a rock and watch them.  They are a little daunting on the biffy, but it never has kept me from getting my business done.   Wink

When I was a child I was terrified of spiders, even the tiny ones.  I think it is one thing canoe-tripping sort of cured in me; somehow, there just seemed to be other things to be afraid of and once I learned how much fun it was to photograph them, I relaxed a lot.  One time I photographed a brown recluse in an outhouse in Canada, and frankly, if I had known at the time how dangerous they are. . .why is it that a camera makes you think you are invincible?

That's sort of a family joke:  moose in the water munching on vegetation, canoe approaching with Spartan1 paddling in the stern and Spartan2 in the bow with paddle on her lap and camera in her hand, "Get closer, closer, closer," she says.  After a few more yards the comment comes from the stern paddler:  "Lynda, you do realize that this is a WILD animal??"   Grin

db,

Well, today's POD is the first turtle rodeo pic that we've had in a few weeks.  How long did it take you to lasso this rascal?  Wasn't the old record something like 4.4 seconds?

Every time I see a big snapping turtle like that I think a great meal IF you know how to cook them properly.

I know it's illegal to kill them in the park BUT if it was a do-or-die situation, I have the perfect way to do it.

Just need a campfire and a sharp knife.
