Every time I'm ready to push off on a misty morning like this, my heart is thumping in anticipation of what the day will bring.  Smiley

That's a pretty, misty photo.  Actually looks a lot like what we had around here this morning.  Every little pond had heavy mist rising, and even the fields had that beautiful fog that you have on a cold morning.

Roger that Jimbo!  The old CBO dock...same one we pushed off from on that late 2019 trip up through Prairie Portgage.  It was sold in the past year or so and my understanding of the plan is to convert it into summer quarters for seasonal workers and such that come up to Ely.

Thank you so much!  A photo that brings back some bittersweet memories.  2008 was the year we didn't have a canoe trip, as Spartan1 was on peritoneal dialysis and canoe-tripping was impossible for us.  HoHo and David generously offered their beautiful "cabin" (read that:  "lovely home") in the woods so that we could still be in the canoe country, and we stayed there with our 5-year-old granddaughter for a week, plus some days for ourselves.  This photo was taken on a short day trip out of Lake One, just the two of us.  Wondering how long it would be before Spartan1 got a kidney transplant, and if we would do any more canoe trips.  As I said, bittersweet.

Memories of that time are especially vivid.  It was while we were at Timberdoodle (that is the name of HoHo's place) one day when our daughter called my cell phone to tell me that her mother-in-law had been accepted as a potential living donor for Neil.  I got almost no reception, asked her to call me back, and went out behind the cabin to stand up on the biggest rock I could find and hold my phone up over my head.  It was great news!  The transplant was 1/21/09.  And there were a few more really nice canoe trips after that.

Probably TMI for you.  The musings of an old lady.  I think I'll go look at that photo again.

Great musings if you ask me...we could all use a few more uplifting stories in these times....  Smiley

Yup, I immediately recognized it as one of the original flock.  Of course, it was barely more than a chick when it first left the Bushwhacker Jamboree roost.  Nevertheless, it's proud chin & luscious plumage instantly mark its undeniable bloodline & noble heritage.

Incidentally, they are known throughout their range as the scourge & bane of red squirrels... a veritable "scarecrow" for the little buggers.

FYI
