The only reason I remembered is because Olifaunt was mentioned and that's where the picture was from. I always liked that campsite.

Today's POD brought back memories of my ONE attempt to take that portage. I found the put-in on Tanner Lake and as my usual practice, I walked up the portage a bit before unloading the canoe.

All I could see was water! I walked in and sunk to over my knees. I decided to take the 3 portages farther down.

That's the year of my Gimpy Right Foot incident.
Maybe I should have taken the flooded portage Undecided

Naw, I would rather limp a little than drown in the swamp Wink  Grin

Today's POD....those are the ones that you remember well!  When I think of the "character builders" I've been on a smile comes to my face.

...especially when there is water in that particular creek.

I was on that creek with my niece's husband a few years back.  He's a wildlife conservation manager with a department of the U.S. government.  Anyway, he was lamenting the fact we had seen no moose, as yet, on our trip together.  I'm still not sure what caused me to say it but I boldly predicted there would be one around the next bend.

Perhaps you can make him out on the left side of the attached pic?

Jimbo   Cool

PS.  Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.

That's why I love those creeks, I've seen most of my Moose on them. Makes it easier to see take a picture when you're paddling instead of poling or wading in mud  Wink Grin Grin
