Funny thing you should bring this up right after this particular pic.  I struggled with the question of whether it was sunrise or sunset, too... which is why I avoided referencing EITHER one!  I was leaning toward sunrise for precisely the reason that Solus mentioned, more BLUE in the sky.  However, clearly that wasn't the case with this POD since KyPaddler revealed it to be otherwise.

OS, at this very moment I'm facing east but, for some strange reason, it's not helping me much in solving this problem.   Undecided    Maybe I should reorient my laptop to the North?   Wink

Thanks. I particularly like the ones where you can flip the image upside down and scarcely tell which way is "correct."

Y'all are making me look at that sunset photograph in a whole new light (pun acknowledged but not intended). It certainly COULD be a sunrise, I think.

In person, I always perceive a different slant to the sun's rays in the evening, one that evokes nostalgia and, if not "doom" per se, at least a wariness. The coming darkness, I guess. Especially in autumn. And while the temperature might be exactly the same, the sunrise has a frostiness to it that seems more superficial, while the evening chill seems more invasive, like it's probing ways to dig into your bones.

(Not sure I'm explaining that well enough, and maybe I'm overthinking it, but sunsets just "feel" different.)

I have submitted a few like that. Just for laughs if I ever get another real good one, I'll rotated it upside down and send it in just to see if anyone sees anything odd about it  Undecided Huh Grin Grin

We have a photograph from our Celebration Canoe Trip that was a favorite of my husband's, although not particularly of mine.  It is a reflection shot (I take a lot of those), but a bit unusual.  I decided to have a canvas made of this image for above our mantel, and when it arrived, the people who put the hanging wire on the back had it installed upside down!   We got quite a kick out of that.  I guess most people expect the sky to be at the top of the photograph, though.   Grin

Are you looking east or west? Cool

I was mostly joking and OS nailed it but now I feel a little obligated to respond so... As I process PODs, I don't really think about them all that much. It's all good.

When I looked at 10/18/2022, my first thought was that morning was truly a gift. Second thought was, time to pick up the pace as I've seen that reticulation on the surface of lakes before.

10/19/2022. I thought sunset based on the leftover clouds but it was a close enough call to think well maybe but not probably.

Eh.

Thanks.  As a matter of fact, it ended up being one of the pages in my 2023 calendar!  Because of my neck problems (recently had surgery on cervical spine, C4/5 and C5/6 and am currently recuperating in a neck brace) I haven't been able to carry my large camera on hikes for several years.  It is just lucky if I can get a shot that I am happy with when using the little Nikon waterproof Cool-Pix.  Anna did most of the photographing on our last trip to the canoe country and most of the POD's I sent in this time are hers.
