Too bad he threw the net into the lake.  Just more pollution.

Hmm... looked to me like the net went into the back of the canoe (turn on the sound to hear the aluminum/metallic "thud") and the pole - as well as the fish - went into the lake.

I've harvested all sorts of fishing tackle out of the lakes over the years, as I'm sure many other QJers have.  Poles, reels, lures, stringers... I got (& continue to get) years of use out of some of that stuff.

I remember one Copia presentation by Kevin Callan in which he claimed to bring snorkeling gear with him on every trip.  He would venture to popular campsites and have a look around on the nearby lake bottom. At the show, he displayed a large coffee can filled with the "treasures" he recovered, claiming he never needed to go to a store to buy fishing lures.

I'm not sure I could muster the courage to do that sort of scavenging.  The thought of hooking my finger while prying a lure wedged tightly in the rocks or in a log puts me off every time.  I like my fingers too much.  While I used to practice Pranayama breathing techniques, my stores of oxygen only carry me so far....

I have a floating net. I only brought it one time then I discovered those floating Orange Fish grips which you see all over the place.

When the guy dropped his rod into the water it reminded me of fishing with my brother.
His idea of fishing is to let the wind push his boat down the lake as he drags a plastic worm.

I do that sometimes, but I like to toss spinner baits for LMB which is what we fish for down here.

He said he didn't have any spinner baits, I should get him some  Roll Eyes

I got some nice ones and give him one. He takes it out of the package and proceeds to THROW it into the lake Huh Shocked Grin Grin

I said well that explains why you don't have any spinner baits!  Wink Grin Grin

I had the habit of placing my spare rod behind me in the stern, leaning against the rear deck. One time, actually a few times, I hooked it while casting. Usually it didn't go overboard but once it did. I was lucky to retrieve it by dragging a heavy spoon along the bottom.

I don't use treble hooks but in this case it worked like a charm. I have that rod leash and also one of those foam things you wrap around rod so it will float. That way if one of those big PollyHumpers snatch the rod out of my hands I can follow it like Captain Ahab the Great White Whale  Wink Grin Grin

Does it look real to you guys?

I honestly was surprised at the voice commands but that's cool. There could be some stabilization software enhancement going on, I guess, maybe? No clue.

IDK but I knew you guys would like it and my thanks to the guy with the GoPro for sharing!

Bottom line. Anyone recognize the logo on the paddle?
