Portage Description:
Yes, there is a portage trail here, although it doesn't appear on all maps. The portage is a little difficult to spot, but look along the small stretch of shoreline and you'll find it. It's not in particularly good condition, and the last couple rods are through a marshy area.

Lake after portage: Washte
Known campsites: None at all
Lake Description:

Washte is a very shallow lake of about 60 acres. Don't tip your canoe on this lake- you may never be seen again! The bottom which you can clearly see just a few feet down is not the bottom at all, as demonstrated by my bowman who launched his paddle down into it. The paddle was completely gone for a few seconds before emerging out of the muck. I don't believe there are any gamefish in this lake, despite the abundant minnows. The area surrounding Washte was devastated by the storm.
