Portage Description:
The portage is no longer maintained by the Forest Service. It starts from a muddy creek and travels uphill most of the way, although it's not a steep slope. The portage had mud in spots and was a little overgrown. We counted 31 deadfalls along the way. It's an endurance test, in large part because if you're on this portage you've likely come all the way up the Beartrap River from Iron Lake. We saw deer and wolf tracks on the portage.

Lake after portage: Beartrap
Known campsites: 1
Lake Description:

Beartrap Lake is a pretty little lake with three islands and a decent population of walleyes and northerns. The campsite is small, but decent.
