quetico fan, I guess I didn't stop to think that modern technology has probably created new, lighter, more efficient units. On my first trip I carried in an old Lowrance, box-type sonar unit with the spinning, flashing light. It consumed energy at a prodigious rate and required a battery that weighed a pound and a half. The whole unit was about 1/2 a cubic foot and weighed 5 pounds. It did it's job, but in the end we opted to 'fish by instinct' and caught as many fish. That's not to say that I don't appreciate the value of an instrument that can give me accurate measurements. If there is an instrument out there that can run all week off of 2 'D' cells, I'd get one. ...tom Posted by Tom on September 22, 1999 at 00:10 In reply to: Re: Man Chain posted by quetico fan on September 16, 1999 at 16:45 |
