The Man Chain is a great area to explore. I have only done the one portage from That Man heading to Emerald Lake, it was a pretty steep hill to climb as I recall. But Emerald Lake is a beautiful lake.
I've caught some nice smallmouth on No Man and up in the southern bays of Other Man.
The unnamed lake between Other and Bell is really murky and appears to be very shallow, but its not. Caught a huge pike near the portage once.
The portages aren't to bad. Sheridan to That Man can be swampy at first. From Other to the unnamed lake is swampy on the other side.
Saw alot of bear tracks on the portage between Mink and Martin Lakes once.
There is a nice campsite on This Man up in the northern bay to the west.
