Re: Northern Lights

I had my first experience with Northern Lights in 1998 in the BWCA. I was leading a church youth wilderness trip. We were on the east end of Lac La Croix. ( I don't reccomend that lake anymore - to many motors ). It was our last night and we were all hanging around on the Island late into the night. I had stepped back toward camp, when one guy hollers "Hey, there's the Northern Lights!" We all kind of rolled our eyes, knowing his reputation for annoying people. But upon a quick "just in case" glance, he was right!
And for the next several minutes we watched an awesome display of very long and high dancing green colors across the sky. They waved up and down, sometimes towering to extreme vertical walls. They began to slowly drift at times only to jump back on stage for another encore. But after many "oohs", "aahs" and "awesomes!" and several minutes later they seemed to vanish for good. We were struck by a power that exceeded our own and could rest with the feeling of a wonderful finale to our great trip.
