Re: Any information on wicksteed lake?

Jesse,

Check the post on the Death March Portage.

Ref- db's recommendation on the Darky River to Minn- I'll second that! That is the most interesting river I have ever been on. Lots of variety, easy paddling, just absolutely beautiful.

P.S. COWBOYKEVIN & I were about 2/3's the way down ,just above some rapids and ran into a monster northern or musky. He had hooked a 2 1/2 Lb smallie and as he got it up to the canoe I turned around in time to see a BIG head come from under the canoe and take the smallie crossways in it's mouth(This was right at the surface beside Kevin, he could have reached down and patted it on it's head) We saw the monster slip back into deeper water as he gave it some slack line.(Gives a new meaning to live bait fishing) After a minute he tightened the line and reeled in the smallie which had a nice set of teeth marks across the middle of its body! Two casts before that one he hooked into about a 5LB smallie in the same pool of water! That day was a travelling day so we really didn't fish much, but what little fishing we did was memorable.
