It seems a GPS is a nice toy (or a great tool in an emergency), but excess baggage on a BW wilderness trip. You need the map anyway, and (for me) navigating by map & compass delivers a nostalgia not possible with a GPS (yeah, I know, I am sounding old). I suppose in a few decades, some younger folks will be posting messages here waxing nostalgic about their GPS!
