One of the aspects of a wilderness trip that I truly enjoy is the map and compass work. The combination of physical and mental effort heightens the reward of the journey, especially when I enter unfamiliar territory. How is it with a GPS toy? Can a traveller become overly dependent on the electronic device and perhaps not be so observant of the surrounding terrain as is required when navigating with a Silva and topos?
