Looks to me like you have received some good advise. Consider a few more things.
10 days is my personal favorite trip in the Q. However, it may be a bit long for your girl. One thing I try to remind myself about my 13 year old is: I have only about four more family vacation opportunities before she heads to college and to her "life". I remember our struggle to decide to take her when she was 6. She had a blast and still brags about her catching the biggest Pike of the trip!
If at all possible, try to find a place to go on a weekend paddle before you go. I don't know where you're from but you might be suprised to find canoe liveries to do a day/weekend paddle on a stream or river near you. This would give everyone confidence.
Most of all consider this:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
