Re: saturday bay

The good news is that you don't need a 2nd mortgage to have lures that catch fish. The water is stained. In stained water, such as Crooked L., you want the brighter, gaudier colors, such as oranges, chartruce, firetiger patterns, yellows. In clear water you want more natural, subdued, subtle colors. I would invest in 1/4 oz. +/- size roundhead jigs. I would choose Black in addition to colors suggested above. Powerbait puts out some fantastic color choices in a 3" grub. Load up on these & take a few crankbaits to cast & troll. Bring some lead for deeper trolling in case the weather remains unsettled. We use snapweights. When you find fish by trolling, stop & jig the place you caught them. Jigs are simple & cheap. Who cares if you lose some? You asked earlier about campsites. I don't get too worked up over an exact campsite. There are 3-4 legal ones in the main part of Crooked north of Sat bay. They all get overused and you'll be fortunate to find one open. My favorite is whichever site is open. Just be flexible & keep in mind that you'll catch fish near whereever you camp. As I recall, there are no campsites in Sat bay. Bring leeches and have a ball.
