Portage Description:
Although short and generally easy, you'll have to put in on Gillis over some difficult rocks. On the Bat side, you'll have to get out on a rock that rises straight out of the water to maybe 6 feet. You can get out using a foothold in the rock on one side or come in to a small bit of shoreline right past the rock on the other. From here it's a short straight but rocky trail down to the entrance to Gillis.
Lake after portage: Gillis
Known campsites: 7
Lake Description:
Gillis is one of my favorite lakes in the BWCA. With high rocky outcroppings and a number of good camp sites, there's something here for everyone. Don't forget to fish for some lake trout.
