Portage Description:
Trail was long, but not a swampy death march. Don't let the length of it scare you off, it's worth the time spent to get into an area with less people. Several small hills on the route, but the rocks in the trail are mostly embedded so the footing is good. Unloaded it's a fifteen to twenty minute walk at a reasonable pace. With a canoe add ten minutes, with several places along the way to set down the boat and rest. Lots of room at both ends of the portage to organize gear and get your loading/unloading done. Once you enter beautiful Lake Gabbro you'll soon forget the trials of getting there.
