Portage Description:
After the portage from Hell (Thomas to Cacabic), it was a relief to scramble over this short portage to get to Alice Lake, by way of a long river-like sliver of water which is not separately named on the map, so it must be considered part of Cacabic.

I have posted photos of this portage and lake (along with many others) at: http://troop175.com/Outings/1999-2000/NorthernTier/CrewA/DayFive.html

Lake after portage: Alice
Known campsites: 8+
Lake Description:

Once on Alice, there are at least 14 campsites. Given what you have to go through to get to it, it is no surprise that there were few other crews there at the time. We took the day to do our service project, traveling to almost all the campsites to clean up after other campers. I'm pleased to report that most who came before us were thoughtful campers. We picked up very little debris. We left the Moose skull we found on a sandy beach at the first campsite on the left. What a delightful setting it was, too. Unfortunately, I also left 2 of the 3 expensive fishing lures I brought there, complements of the numerous Northern to be caught. All in all, it was worth the effort to get there.
