Portage Description:
South Hegman portage is about 80 rods. It is downhill and there are some roots and rock outcropping that can be slippery. The put in is a bit confined, but at the top of the stairs, there is a large area to sort out your stuff and keep you canoe out of the way.

Lake Description:
South Hegman was great fun. I spent hours watching two pairs of eagles fish and eat breakfast. The portage to North Hegman is in the far NW corner next to a small rapids.
