Portage Description:
This awesome portage is very tough. It appears to be seldom used. The Basswood landing is not evident from a distance, coming into view only when nearing shore. The landing is compact and rocky. The trail climbs steadily from the beginning up over a hundred foot rise. The path is rocky, muddy in spots, tight with brush, and heavy with downfall that were capable of being stepped over. After only a few level steps at the top, the trail descends continuously a hundred feet all the way to Indiana Lake at another tight landing.

Lake after portage: Indiana
Known campsites: 2
Lake Description:

The water is strikingly clear. One can see the fish below. Other than a sense of isolation, Indiana is w/o distinguishing features. No islands, etc. Not remarkable for its scenery. The two campsites are both set among tall pines along the north shore. Bass and Northerns can be caught there.
