Insula to Hope Lake

Boundary Waters portages
Posted by: Beavers
Season/Year: Spring 05
Water Level: low
Length: rods
Rating: difficult
Additional Perspectives:

Portage Description:
If the water is low you rockhop, paddle, then rockhop to get to the landing of the first portage.

#1 - 28 rods - This is the most difficult of the three portage on your way to Hope Lake. It starts of steep and is full of loose rocks and windfalls.

#2 - 34 rods - You have one beaver dam to pull up in the section of creek before this portage. This one is just like the last overgrown with windfalls. You start off with a small uphill section before getting to an area that would be a small pond in wet weather.

#3 - 25 rods - Don't believe the Inukshuk! It lies! It is not the portage just a landing and then a bushwhack that leads to Hope Lake.

The real portage is a few rods further south.
