Portage Description:
I have taken this trail numerous times in the past in order to get away from the busy entry points like Carp lake, and also to avoid all of the traffic along the Border Route. Emerald, and Plough lakes, are picturesque lakes that don't see as much traffic as the Border lakes of Knife and Ottertrack. The trail itself is located back in the NE corner of the lake, and there are a couple of campsites on the south shore of Emerald. Unlike Carp Lake, however, you may find only one other group on the lake with you, and this may make it easier to find some "solitude" in the North Woods. Enjoy.
