Portage Description:
Each part of this two-part portage is easy. The horror is the link between them. We tried to paddle across, but the creek had six inches of water in it, and under that was five feet of mud; our paddles never found a solid bottom. So too shallow to paddle across; too muddy to walk across. We made it by balancing on a downed tree that happened to be laying across the creek. Balancing while carrying gear was a trick, but I don't know what we would have done otherwise. I'd recommend avoiding this unless water levels are very high (so you can paddle across) or very low (so you can walk it).
