About Denali Dreams: Both Barb and Janie moved to Alaska to pursue a better life. Barb (left) has the Boundary waters connection. She was Camp Cook/Guide at Menogyn (BWCA) in the late 60's early 70's. By simple association, that makes Janie (right), Barb's partner in soapmaking, "good people". When Janie was vacationing in New Zealand with the family in the winter of 1992, she met some new friends that showed her how to make soap. The next year she made a couple batches of soap and gave them out for Christmas presents. Barb received one of these gifts, and delighted with the quality of handmade soap she expressed interest in learning to make soap herself. From there, they started speculating on the possibilities of "selling" hand made soap. At this time Barb & Janie were young mothers and looking for some way to make a few extra bucks while staying home with the kids. After some experimentation, they came up with an assortment of soaps that they took to sell at the local Christmas craft fair. It was a success, and in 1995 they got a business license and Denali Dreams was born and has been growing ever since. Denali Dreams makes a wide assortment of natural soaps with various scents and qualities for various purposes. QuietJourney offers a few items visitors might enjoy.
