My apologies to the dozen or so people that were redirected to the sorry page this morning and another morning last week. The word sorry is a link that should take you to a form you can submit to notify me.

I'll take any IP off the list be it home, work, or wherever and ranges can always be adjusted to accommodate a human. Using the form if possible is always faster. If all else fails, contacting me is pretty easy to remember, db@quietjoxxxxx.com.

Further explanation:
I check for abusive IPs almost every night. Usually when I add to the list and make a mistake, it redirects me too so it's easy to notice and correct. This time my error didn't affect me but I think I finally found the culprit in one of the 450+ ranges that recently redirected unintentional IPs to the sorry page.

The first close parentheses doesn't belong and it might explain the odd redirects that were happening when that full list was in place. If anyone knows a UNIX guru that could explain why that mistake redirected the IPs it did I'd love to learn.

Purpose and need:
Long ago QJ found it's way on the default list in a spam program and that list has been repurposed many times. Most uses are innocuous enough, some are truly evil and will pound QJ 5 times a second for hours on end or ten times a day every day seemingly forever. The more serious abuses are what my list are aimed at as they suck resources big time when they are not redirected to the tiniest page possible. The sorry page is intended to allow humans to notify me and once I even got a compliment on it from a spammer using a France IP that took the time to investigate and use the form it offers humans.

Individual known proxy IPs that get used often, countries like Russia, China, Pakistan, Argentina, France, Dubai United Arab Emirates ... and especially servers that host websites and allow that sort of abuse or don't realize what's happening get redirected once discovered. I have a ton of time invested in that list but the approach saves QJ oodles of bandwidth and CPU time so it saves me money and every human visitor time. Well, unless I screw up). Sorry.

well,as one who was getting the sorry page,  thanks for the answer to the :question.....I figgured it had something to do with protecting me from something else for my own good . FYI, when I clicked on "sorry", I got the x in a box and the "heartbeat" line. I would have contacted you someway, somehow, someday.....soon as I figgured out a way to do that
