BTW - No one bothered to mention that bottle of salad dressing yesterday.    Huh.    I'm truly amazed. Were you all thinking how nice salad looked on a canoe or simply not notice? Christmas spirit perhaps? Poof. Smiley

DB -- I'm back, and once again lurking on QJ.  I looked at the old PODs and was surprised to find a few of mine, and even more surprised they inspired a little chatter.

But what red bottle are you talking about?  I see no such thing in the photo of the salad on the canoe.

As for the fish, one of our guys had a fish id guide and based on that we figured it was a redhorse.  Strangely, caught it in deep water, with a small sinking rapala!

Mickey and caught one of those also, on cherry this summer past fishin' for Lakers. I surmise that we hooked into him in near to 50' deep. Is it really a redhorse or is a whitefish?

I am enjoying this recent series of PODs, but I have to ask -- was it intended to be a winter camping trip?  Shocked

It's just our standard mid October trip.    Wink  Sometimes you get nice, balmy autumn weather; somethings you get to make rum slushies. Smiley

I'm pretty sure it's a redhorse

Looks a LOT like what I was pulling out of the Yellowstone River in Montana last year... whitefish.

It looks like it may have an adipose fin and the mouth is not a sucker (as in redhorse sucker). Kinda hard to tell from the photo. I vote whitefish.

Okay, I'm going to show this picture to a MN DNR fisheries guy...not that he/she is the final word...but I'll let you know what I hear from that source.
