Found this one out by accident one day. It comes in handy from time to time.

Zski -

I have the same issue as prouboy.  I am also a techno-illiterates who had no idea you could do something like that!  Thanks for the suggestion!

Jimbo   Cool

Also can be set in your browser.  In IE it's under View > Text Size.
I support web software & the majority of our users are older folks.  The young bucks in Development put out a release with a font size of 8!  My poor users!

The source code on 'recent' was missing a class tag that I added so messages should be a bit bigger in 'most' templates on that. I haven't looked at the blues. The style sheets with this board have never made sense to me. I make do as usual. It is kinda a hodgepodge I know but it is what it is eh?

I did play with a new template yesterday. The focus was on a slightly larger font size for the messages (posts). You can access it in UserCP > Profile > Options ... bottom of page = experimental andI just made another called 'QJ Default Large' with an even larger font size on the messages (posts) if anyone's interested. You may need to force refresh your browser after changing options.

Time for a poll but I don't exactly know what to ask just yet since every user's OS browser combo displays something slightly different. Maybe later.

Yes but, from my POV, I don't want anyone to have to make any changes specific for QJ beyond profile changes.

As monitors get bigger and better font sizes designers use get smaller and smaller. (Which on it's face makes no sense at all but...) There's more stuff that needs to fit on pages these days too and users are more savvy. The default font size for a Windows browser use to be 16 not that many years ago. The kids that write these scripts do what they are good at and I assure you it's not the visual presentation they focus on. The last update, other than two/three things that don't work quite right, kicks butt from my admin POV.

Hey, if anyone who's well versed in css (likes to be frustrated) and wants to create a style sheet for any existing layout themselves and others to use, hey, go nuts! I'd be glad to add it to the options with your name on it with my thanks.

Ahhhh the bane of my existence!  Embarrassed Grin Embarrassed

I personally have an issue I've been looking at "recently" in that regard with part of the board as well. Wait the entire website? It's built for old codgers with bad eyes like me!

Any other Goldilocks out there?

Are either of the blue or grey template(s) any better? Not that I would want anyone to have to do it all the time but does the font bigger/smaller browser buttons (menu items) work in Windows?

Dave -- I don't even know how to find "menu items"  Where is this?  I really want to select a bigger font size.

Umm, (Menu items, as far as computer programs go, are still at the very top left of your screen I believe.) Perhaps this will help, for QJ at least.

When you are on QJ and in your (similar to a computer's directory structure)  User CP > Profile > Options (enter password or phrase) page (or any profile/preference page for that matter) you need to scroll to the bottom and save any changes you make. Even then, if it's a static page change (which a .css page could very well be, depending....) you may also need to force refresh your browser. (command r on MAC and perhaps ALT r on windows? Just guessing. Maybe someone can correct or verity that.)

The way I look at things these days, QJ as a website is site is still a very long, shared, canoe trip. Tomorrow is another day and patience/persistance is a virtue. Sleeping on things works wonders sometimes if you shut down your machine while you slumber. There's a whole lot of fingers in the pie beyond Ma Nature 'round here these days... Diligence, as in "see the change" is called for sometimes.

Believe me when I say no one hates change more than me when it comes to QJ. Machines found the new server instantly and I mean within seconds. I got to see it became a whole new target for them. Fresh meat baby!

Humans including myself had problems for a while. The machines have now all but given up. Thankfully we humans still have bigger, and more adaptable brains.

DB -- SUCCESS!  I followed your instructions, found the template pull-down window, clicked on default large text, or something like that, hit save, and BOOM -- It worked.  HUGE improvement.  Thanks much.

I like. I'm getting pictures to show now without them being hosted somewhere first, just from my computer.

Ummm, that part hasn't changed. The display options and the back end have changed quite a bit but from a user's upload standpoint there shouldn't be any difference. Is there?

Nice shot! That you?

Yes, that's me on the Yough in PA.
Before I was just seeing a text line for a link. Now I see a thumbnail photo. Maybe it's been awhile since I posted pics, but the thumbnail look is new to me.

Anyway to stop the blinking of the new post icon?

Yes! Happy now?  Cheesy

Good call BTW. Finally getting down to the minor annoyances I know how to fix. You may have to force refresh....

On to the bigger things I was never able to address on a shared server. Sorry for the downtime earlier tonight but I got all these new buttons now....  Grin

And yes, you can pretty much expect me to break something else sooner or later. If it ain't right, bear with.. Complainants are fine too.
