My Goofy Question for Today

Could someone estimate what a typical mid-summer surface water temp would be on Lac La Croix?

Thanks,

It’s going to vary. Surface temperatures are generally warmer. Cool

OS,

I understand it will vary and I am only hoping for an approximate number.   Living in Indiana does not prepare me for even a wild guess on my part.

I looked for some historic data on the internet, but did not find anything helpful.

Yes, someone could estimate that for you.

This is for Duluth MN.
You could probably use this info plus current Atikokan weather to estimate surface lake temp?

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

You could check this as your trip date comes close.

Between the science and the First person IC, you should be able to get pretty close.  Wink Grin Grin

I think that’s a pretty safe guess for planning. Cool

Went swimming in Argo (not too distant from LLC) in early July last season.  The water temperature was refreshing.  I'd estimate about 70 degrees.  Argo is a clear lake, so other lakes were warmer.  Over the course of the trip, I seem to remember surface temperatures on my depth finder ranging from 68 to 74 (with the highest temps being recorded in stained waters in protected areas).

Ditto to what DD has said about water temps.  That's what my instruments told me last year, too.

Don't let Jimbo kid you about his "equipment". I got the chance to fish with him once, and he had this Pink Flamingo he dipped into the water up to it's knees... waited a minute.... and then pulled it back up again. I could see that its poor little feets were blue. Jimbo turned to me and said... "Guess it's too cold for swimmin today".
