No.  Grin  It's hard to tell and it's a very cool moniker so I thought someone else may have taken the name.

Westwood,

This whole post thread has nothing to do with anything!  Mossback just started a virtual Rave!  Glad we got folks talkin'!

Be confused no longer….you are correct - the Commonwealth of Virginia....they don't call themselves a state???  Whaaatever.  Originally from WI, so a born/bred cheesehead I am!!!  Cheesy  We've crossed paths at 'copia - Country Inn & Suites gatherings.

Really?  I always thought it was a turtle!  (Maybe because as a child I had a pet turtle that got all mossy on its shell.)   Wink

You learn something every day.  You guys are so educational!  And yes, I am the same Spartan2 on BWCA.com, but of course no one asked that.   Grin

Linda, maybe you're thinking shellback.  Ol' Navy term for someone (usually a sailor, I'm guessing) that has crossed the equator....usually accompanied by some insane hazing ceremony.  Not unlike the Homme du Nord thing Voyagers did.

My Dad would call snapping turtles "Big 'ole mossbacks" so I'm with you Linda, I always think of turtles for that term.

Linda, (Lynda?),  The reason no one asked if you were the same Spartan 2 on BWCA is because the Spartans are legendary and everyone knows who you are.

Hey PD, what's on the menu for you and Lawrence.  Any special desserts? He might actually gain weight on a trip with you.   Grin

Hey TomT - didn't forget about you...just so much else going on!  You've enjoyed (I hope) some of these, but here's a sampling of the menu:
Desserts - cheesecake with Oreo crumbles (vs. the pecan/caramel we had), a mixed berry cobbler, dark chocolate squares, maple sugar candies, caramel creams
Libations - all rums - Ron Zacappa Centenario, Ron Zacappa XO, Kirk & Sweeney 12 yr, and Plantation XO
Dinners - grilled ribeye with potatoes, Kalamojaka (Finnish fish chowder - receipe was posted here a while back), smoked salmon and pasta with pesto, artichokes, Kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, bacon wrapped walleye (we hope!), Zup's smoked brats with red beans&rice, chicken gravy with stuffing, fish fry with wild rice, pecan-panko crusted walleye (again, we hope!) with wild rice, spam mac&cheese and Zup's smoked brats with hashbrowns and eggs - most veggie sides are freeze dried corn or green beans from North Bay Trading Co.
Breakfasts - bacon, egg, cheese hashbrown scramble, eggs/bacon, pancakes/bacon, cereal, breakfast bars, oatmeal with cranberries and pecans
Lunch - we're doing our own lunches, but mine includes some landjager and trailmix, cheeses sticks, dried fruits, ProBars (like Cliff, but waaaay better), tuna, salmon, pbj

Magic considers food just fuel, but to me having some great meals enhances the experience, so he was happy to leave most of the cooking to me.  I try to do a mix of really involved and really simple meals depending if you're laying over or rolling into camp late.
