Portable fish finder - testimonial

I just made my way to this forum via a reference at another site. I notice that portable sonar units were discussed a month or so ago - I just wanted to fill you in on my experiences with a relatively new unit specifically suited to the lightweight demands of portaging.

I bought a Vexilar Boundary Waters LC-10 a little over a year ago and am very satisfied with it in all respects. It packs very small and weighs less than 3 pounds with batteries installed. It runs on 8 AA batteries, and I was initially concerned that it would run out of juice rapidly. In reality, the opposite is true. On a single set of 8 AA Energizers it has run in excess of 40 hours of fishing in open water and through the ice (I built a box and transducer holder for ice fishing). It does an excellent job of showing terrain and fish. While it was a fairly sizeable investment, it is one that I am very pleased with having made.

By the way, I have no connection whatsoever with Vexilar or any vendor. I just thought someone might like to know about my experiences with the LC-10. If anyone has questions, feel free to post them. I will do my best to answer.
