I was wondering around the web tonight and I found http://www.learner.org/jnorth/search/Loon.html . On it I found this... "Q. How are loons' colors helpful? A. Being dark on top and light underneath makes a loon harder for fish to see above them as loons swim through the light-filled water. During dives, the darker back makes it hard for enemies above to spot it..." Wait a minute now. Aren't many fishing lures, plugs in general, colored the same way? Aren't fish? I think fish are color blind already, does my lure really have to have camouflage too? It's a wonder I catch anything at all. Consider too the fact that fishing lures are designed to catch fisherman as much as they're designed to catch fish. I don't know about anyone else but I have an ageing lure that's going to get a new paint job in the name of sience. Posted by Owen on April 24, 2000 at 01:12 |
