I,ve been looking for a good sleeping bag, with a bit more room in it than my old mummy bag. Are there any suggestions as far as construction/ materials, etc., i.e. Gore-tex, Hollo-fil, etc.? I know Down is great only if it can be kept totally dry! (once soaked=you're doomed!)
Also, I just prefer a bit more room inside, so its easier to toss and turn to stay comfortable. Mummy bags may technically work well, but I'd prefer a bit of comfort too. It's bad enough to stay on a small foam insulator pad, or periodically wake up to re-inflate a slowly leaking (but comfortable!) air-mattress!!! Comfortable sleep is one of the most worthwhile goals in our camping skills. Without proper rest the entire outdoor experience seems to suffer terribly!!
