Who have taken time to respond. You have given us more to think about. Perhaps 10 days is too long. It is very hard to summarize all the factors going into making the decision to go or not. I tried to boil it down to the two that concerned us most. I know our kids can handle 10 days without "necessities" such as tv, computers, video games as we have car camped that long before at NFS campgrounds. (read pit toilets, no showers, no trips to town, plenty of bugs and rain, LOL) We rarely have junk food or sodas in the house so forgoing that won't be a problem. Our son can fish sun-up to sun-down even when they aren't biting. Entertained he will be. Physically he can handle it too. Megan on the other hand. Well honestly all in all I think is going to be the deciding factor. She loves the critters that inhabit our natural areas. This is the girl who took naps with worms in her pockets and plays with leeches, crayfish, frogs, toads, tadpoles and thunder bugs and used to kiss fish before she released them. (Ewww) But I don't know she's up to the physical challenge. She doesn't like walking, always complains her legs hurt. She is not very coordinated. I worry she won't be able to handle paddling. The physcial demands may be too much for her even if we shortened the trip. Typing this message gave me an opportunity to explore more of our doubts. Thanks for letting me do that. We are still undecided. We also have to option of leaving her with my folks, something she has done before and enjoys very much, and inviting our son's friend. But we really wanted to take a family trip this year. We realize we don't have many years left of that.
