Portage Description:
Using the island between the two falls is a nice shortcut IF you are a strong canoeist. You MUST make the easily seen landing in the center of the island. If you mess up and go into the falls you will drown! But, with that said, the view of the falls is awesome. A great place to lunch. A relatively easy walk but be careful of the slick rock if raining.

I saw a group of fishermen just pulling in the smallies at the base of the falls, midday early August `03 when not much else was biting. They were catching them almost as fast as they could reel them in.
