Portage Description:
There are two portages out of Cap Lake. Be sure to take the one on the right hand side when going to Boulder. The portage is quite long Aprox. 1 1\4 miles but not terribly difficult if you can stand carrying that far. In high water there may be a swampy portion that you have to paddle or walk your canoe through. Its worth it to get to Boulder Lake.

Lake Description:

Boulder Lake is fairly shallow in most areas, a great pike fishing lake. However there is a reef between one of the islands and a point off shore that holds some nice walleye. The island campsite is probably my favorite in all of the BWCA!!! There's enough room for upwards of 7 or 8 tents at once and very few people go there.
