Portage Description:
The portage begins on the east side of the stream that enters Hudson from Insula. The portage rises steeply for a short distance and then levels out before descending steeply again to Insula. The Insula side has some loose gravel to slip on. If you came from Lake One today, you are quite relieved once this portage is over!
Lake after portage: Insula
Known campsites: not sure
Lake Description:
Insula is a large, beautiful lake with numerous bays and islands. It is relatively quiet compared to all the people on the "number chain". It's enough work to get to that the Hudson-Insula portage is a boundary between the daytrippers and those willing to put a little more effort in. The walleyes liked jigs with yellow twister tails in late August.
