Portage Description:
Relatively easy and wide portage. A slight downhill going into Horse otherwise an easy walk.
Lake after portage: Horse
Known campsites: 7
Lake Description:
Large lake with numerous islands and bays. Can be a difficult paddle in stiff NW wind. Horse River goes out to the east while a river and pretty waterfall come in from the west from Fourtown Lake. Lake formerly held resorts and logging camps. Campsite straight across from portage in from TCM was one resort-many artifacts still can be seen. The campsite on the peninsula to the NE of the resort site is a former logging camp and also contains artifacts. At the far north end is the other resort site-but we did not investigate the site.
