Topographic Maps for Quetico Provincial Park

PNG or Portable Network Graphics
is an image file format with lossless compression.

Windows users (other then 95) will want to use the free Memory-Map viewer anyway so file format is less important. However you cannot print anything larger than a screen capture from the free software included unless you register the software.

So... Can you use a PNG file with one of your image editing programs?

All Users - If you are unsure, download this test image pngtest.png (9k) and see if it opens. (This may simply open the image in your browser window. If it does then choose File>Save As to save the file. Hint: you may also be able to save in other file formats besides PNG.)

Unsuccessful? - Check with your friends. One of them will be able to help you convert PNG to a format you can use or contact me and I'll offer suggestions.

Successful? - To try before you buy... Download the small sample from 52B06 etopo-quetico.png (428k) This is the small section of one of the actual map files included on the CD. Average file size on the CD is ~5MB on disk ~15MB opened. 25"x30" @ 150 ppi.
