Thanks for the great information on the portages and the fishing. I've slipped hip deep into those kinds of mud holes with a canoe on my shoulders before, so I appreciate the warning.

As for fishing, I like the soft plastics, too, but I hadn't tried the lizards. I will this time.

How do you locate the mid lake reefs? I didn't think depth maps were available and I wouldn't have thought that you'd have carried a sonar unit in. I guess if they are shallow enough you can see them. I sometimes can find them through extrapolation if there is a linear chain of islands extending out into a lake.

I read about your hitchhiker experience in the other posts. That was incredible. It's a good thing it was you who came along next.
