Re: Fish Locators

I've had a Vexilar Boundary Waters LC-10 for three years and I recommend it. It is true that it doesn't have the pixels of an X85, but it is more than adequate for finding depths and structure. I've used it to find suspended lake trout on the Man Chain, walleyes on rubble on Kashipiwi, and many different fish holding breaks. If you are used to a high resolution graph it is just a matter of getting used to the fewer pixels. The information is there, but like any sonar, you just need to learn how to interpret it.

It has two very important advantages over other models. Chief amongst them is its battery efficiency. It runs off AA batteries for a surprisingly long time. One set would be good for almost two weeks of signifigant use. The other advantage is its compact design and weight. It is small and not heavy.

Vexilar is a company I trust. I run their Edge LC-507 on the stern of my big boat and I stare at a FL8 all ice fishing season. I also run a Garmin 240 off my bow-mount trolling motor, but I like the Vexilar products better.
